"I began to draw and paint late in life. My interest in art began as a desire to express ideas, feelings and emotions, to create, to feel good, and to capture an image in time. None of my academic or career credentials focused on art. I lived in Colorado and New Mexico for many decades, before moving back to my native Wisconsin. Many of my paintings feature either southwestern scenes or woodland landscapes of water and trees. In my pursuit of painting, I found wonderful teachers and tried many mediums. For the past seven years, I have focused on using chalk pastels on sanded Wallis paper. I like the soft beautiful effects that can result. My goal in art is to try to capture the colors and patterns of the environment, and to focus on the beauty of this world."
