Paula Jean Roberts - Door County Fiber Artist
After a long history of creating artwork for churches, Door County native Paula Jean Roberts brings her lifelong experience with animals and rural living into the world of fiber art. For each unique piece of art, Paula Jean combines a variety of materials, such as silk, wool, and alpaca fibers, some selected from her small, colorful flock of sheep and alpacas free-ranging on her lawn. The process for each original piece varies based on the desired effect and the idiosyncrasies of the fibers, but it usually involves barbed needles, soapy water, bubble wrap, palm wash boards, and hot and cold water baths. The end result is a beautiful, hand-crafted fiber art creation. Both the originals and the prints make lovely framed additions to your home or business.
